BOOK REVIEW - CATCHING FIRE

So I chose to read the awesome sequel to the Hunger Games - Catching Fire. I read this book because the last book kept me hanging and i wanted to find out what would happen to Katniss and Peeta.

Every year in Panem, the dystopic nation that exists where the U.S. used to be, the Capitol holds a televised tournament in which two teen "tributes" from each of the surrounding districts fight a gruesome battle to the death. In The hunger games, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the tributes from District Twelve, prevented the Gamemakers from choosing only one victor, forcing them to let both teens survive. In this fast paced anticipated sequel, Katniss, again the narrator, returns home to find herself more the center of attention than ever. The sinister President Snow surprises her with a visit, and Katniss's fear when Snow meets with her alone is both palpable and justified.

Catching Fire is divided into three parts: Katniss and Peeta's mandatory Victory Tour through the districts, preparations for the 75th Annual Hunger Games, and a truncated version of the Games themselves. Slower paced than its predecessor, this sequel explores the nation of Panem: its power structure, rumors of a secret district, and a spreading rebellion, ignited by Katniss and Peeta's subversive victory. Katniss also deepens as a character. The characters are also more relatable this time in my opinion.

Though initially bewildered by the attention paid to her, she comes almost to embrace her status as the rebels' symbolic leader. Though more of the story takes place outside the arena than within. The tantalizing hints of a possible District 13 guarantee more surprises for readers. The ending is a cliffhanger, and fans of the series will eagerly await the next installment.

I personally thought this book was better than the first, with its twists and turns you will never know what comes next. I also groaned at the ending becausen at the book's conclusion, since the ending had many loose ends. I cant wait to read the last of the trilogy "Mockingjay".

Most of this is just copy and pasted off the net http://collider.com/simon-beaufoy-gary-ross-hunger-games-sequel-catching-fire/138657/ so I am not impressed.
Re-write this since you didn't do it yourself and tell me your opinions of the book.

So I chose to read the awesome sequel to the Hunger Games - Catching Fire. I read this book because the last book kept me hanging and i wanted to find out what would happen to Katniss and Peeta.

The story is broken into 3 parts:
-The spark
So the story starts off with Katniss in her house, just finished participating in the hunger games.
Thinking about the killings she witnessed during it. She is waiting in the victor village(a place where people go if they win the hunger games.) for the camera crews to interview her about what she’s feeling about winning the hunger games. For me I think the start is slow and is dragged a lot. This goes on for about 10-15 pages. After a bit of hunting she gets a visit from The President. President snow says that he angry at Katniss for defying the capitol for trying to kill them selves in the hunger games. They are soon ready for the Victory Tour. Which later leads to 3 people getting killed because of their foolish acts during their speech.

So the first part of the story was kind of slow and boring and I mostly skimmed and scanned through it looking for an interesting part.

The second part is called: The quell
This starts off when Katniss is illegally hunting in the woods and meets two girls named Bonnie and Twill. Two runaways from district 8. This is the part which initially grabs my attention because of the new twist in the story. That District 13 may have not been completely wiped out.( I cant wait to find out if this is true in “MockingJay-The third book). Then at night when they are watching for the 75th hunger games( a quarter quell is an event that happens every 25th year which allows the capitol to introduce the twist. For the 75th hunger games it is announced that 24 victors that have won the hunger games previously have to go back in.

So the second part I think was the best it was not slow or boring but had interesting twists and turns to the story. I honestly didn’t know what was going to happen next. I was so eager to read the last part of the book.

The third part is called: The enemy
In the last part of the book this is where the 75th hunger games actually begins. But before the games started Katniss witnessed the whipping of Cinna(her stylist). Shocked and faintly dizzy Katniss had to prepare for battle. The ending part is when Katniss discovers that district 12 had been bombed and destroyed.

The last part was actually quite short and I didn’t really enjoy it because it by really quick. But the story lines in the book were much easier to understand than the first book. The depth of the book is also amazing, in every scene I could paint a picture of what that scene would look like because of the description. I liked how the characters storylines had developed more and how they could be more realtable.

Overall catching fire had many good parts in it. I enjoyed most of the book just not the boring start of it. The suspense and the ongoing story is what motivates me to read the next book.
